It’s more usual application is, of course, relating to people who are duped into exploitative relationships with people who don’t really exist through online dating apps.
The police, however use this form of deception to uncover underage girls and girls who have been trafficked by sex gangs who are using them to generate thousands of pounds worth of profit for themselves.
It is a long tedious game that the police play which requires much patience and expertise to bring to a successful conclusion. However when they do manage to contact a trafficked sex worker, just sometimes they manage to rescue them. More often than not, though , the girl concerned, will be so intimidated by the gang master, that they will be too scared to break away and give evidence in court against them.
The result of this is that only a tiny few are saved and only a tiny few sex gangs ever brought to justice. That is why it is so important for the general public to be aware that sexual slavery is taking place, under the radar, in every country on earth.
