What are you doing as you read this? Are you sitting at your desk drinking coke and idly poking about on social media, or are you perhaps just lounging on your bed late at night surfing the net?
For me it’s the middle of a Saturday afternoon. I have just had a nice lunch and now I am writing this blog. I wonder too, what the local sex slave in the nearest town is doing at this moment. Is she, perhaps, watching apprehensively out of the window of the suburban pop up brothel for her next client to come sauntering down the street trying to pretend he is merely out for an afternoon’s stroll? What is going through her mind? Does she perhaps think, ‘if only someone knew what was happening to me and how dreadful it is, then maybe I might be rescued.’
One thing she is not doing is wondering about you and me. If she is a young prostitute, who has not been enslaved for long, she will be dreading his arrival. Maybe she has had nine clients already today and knows that if the number of punters gets up into double figures then she will have serious pain. But there is another question that needs answering: why am I sitting here speculating about her?
The answer to that is that sexual slavery in all its forms makes me really angry and has done for many years now. To help raise awareness of the plight of sexual slaves and to give them some sort of voice of their own, I have spent many many hours writing a novel about one in order that you might be given some insight into the emotional and physical torture sexual slavery actually is. So please put down your coke for a moment and download the free audio book ‘The Garden of Sparkling Delight,’ by Deborah Varen and listen to it.
You can use this link to the audio, The Podcast or go to the links at the top of this WEB page and select 'Tis The Podcast'. There you will find access to the 21 half hours episodes to listen on-line or download for later listening and sharing.
The novel is also available from Amazon in paperback and on the Kindle e-reader. Royalties from Amazon sales go to charities supporting victims.
Please recommend The Garden of Sparkling Delight to your friends. Reviews would be much appreciated.
Thank you so much.
