All around me Christmas is really gathering momentum. Lights are up, shops are decorated, present buying obsesses us all and housewives are agonising over Christmas dinners. Many of us are so looking forward to seeing our parents, children or other favourite relatives and friends.
Imagine then, that you are a young mum and that you are far away from your husband and children in this happy season. You can’t travel home for Christmas as your passport has been taken away from you.
Just Imagine you can’t even speak to them on the phone for that too has been confiscated. You are being forced to live with other young women in a nondescript suburban house and to this house every day come multiple numbers of men who pay to have sex with you. Very little of this money do you ever see as it is all going to your owners.
How do you think you will feel on Christmas morning knowing that even on this one day of the year when all around are celebrating and work is at a standstill, you will have to go on with your loathsome trade. Yet fear keeps you from making any complaint, as if you do you have been told that your family will suffer violent reprisals.
That doesn’t sound like the sort of Christmas you or I would feel comfortable with if it was us or our daughter in that position. I can’t begin to even imagine the despair, sadness and utter misery such a life must produce. Yet that is the precise position that millions of women worldwide find themselves in.
If you want a small glimpse of how that feels for one young teenager please read the book ‘The Garden of Sparkling Delight,’ by Deb Varen, available from Amazon in paperback or on the kindle e-reader. This is an exciting read and will carry you forward through a rollercoaster of a plot that will grip your imagination and hopefully give you the knowledge and impetus to join me in my fight against this evil.
To listen to the novel free of charge you can use this link to The Podcast or go to the links at the top of this WEB page and select 'Tis The Podcast'. There you will find access to the 21 half hours episodes to listen on-line or download for later listening and sharing.
Please recommend The Garden of Sparkling Delight to your friends, and give the book or download the audio edition and share as a Christmas present.
Reviews would be much appreciated.
Thank you so much.
