I Protest

Protests come in all sort of sizes, shapes and forms.  I have been listening recently to the spokesperson heading up the protest against the UK government’s intention to issue more licences for fossil fuel.  I  felt so sorry for her as she was nearly in tears as she stressed how near the point of no return we are if we continue in our headlong rush into destroying our planet.  I also sympathise with those whose lives the protestors have inconvenienced by recently disrupting motorway traffic.  The anti oil protest has been a very physical one and I admire their courage.

Others of us prefer to use our pens to protest and to this end I have written a novel of protest.  This is not a very common genre, but one with an honourable and long history.  Dickens, for example was a protest novelist and campaigned constantly through his novels for better education and working practices.  His protests were very effective as was Harriet Stowe’s influence on the slave trade by means of her novel, Uncle Tom’s Cabin.  Even after all these years have gone past, I was profoundly moved when I read it.

My novel of protest, is written against the modern and totally deplorable practice of sexual slavery. This has exploded during the last 2 decades into a gigantic problem of epic proportions and sometimes I feel like the little Dutch boy who tried to hold back the leaking dam with his finger in the hole.  However if you will join me by reading the novel ‘The Garden of Sparkling Delight,’ by Deborah Varen and then join in the fight, there would be then be at least 2 of us and that would make twice as much difference.

The book tells the story of an imaginary sexual slave and her experiences.  It is exciting and fast paced and will grip you to the last page.  Please read it or listen for FREE to the whole story and find out what happens to the main character 'Tis' her family snd friends.  You can use this link to The Podcast or go to the links at the top of this WEB page and select 'Tis The Podcast'. There you will find access to the 21 half hours episodes to listen on-line or download for later listening and sharing.

Please recommend The Garden of Sparkling Delight to your friends, and give the book or download the audio edition and share as a Christmas present.
