The Salvation Army have always been hot on social problems so it is no surprise that the Government have given them the contract to rescue girls who have been illegally trafficked into sexual and economic slavery in the UK. To cope with the increasing demand the Salvation Army have had to open extra homes in the UK.
Last year I listened to a revealing programme about slaves in the UK many of whom are sexual slaves. The example was given of one young woman who was trafficked from Vietnam first to Russia then to France and lastly to England. She then escaped but was recaptured and forced into working in a cannabis house for sex workers.
The Salvation Army report that there are tens of thousands in the UK now working as slaves who have been trafficked. These folk have not paid to come here but have been carried into slavery. There are about 2662 people in the care of the Salvation Army at the moment who have been brought illegally into the UK. That is the tip of a very large iceberg. Many come in via the ‘boyfriend’ route whereby a man poses as a lover in order to remove the girl from her home.
Volunteer drivers for the Salvation Army stand by at all times. It is their job to pick up the slave and take them to a place of safety. Often the contact with these drivers represents the first kind person they have met since being trafficked. Shockingly the second most trafficked group after Albanians who top the list, are British nationals.
If you would like to understand how these abused young women feel please read the novel ‘The Garden of Sparkling Delight,’ by Deborah Varen, available as a free audio downloads from this site or as a paperback or on Kindle, from Amazon. Please leave a review on Amazon as that will help us in our fight against slavery.
All royalies go to helping stamp out this evil and supporting the victims.
