I wrote in my last blog that Romania has a brisk trade in sex slaves for the UK.
Here are some further facts.
Often little girls as young as ten years old are patiently groomed online by sex traffickers, so that by the time they are slightly older they are not aware at first that they are being exploited. Often this goes hand in hand with the availability of drugs and alcohol in the flats where these girls get physically recruited. Often the ‘lover boy’ method is used with the sex trafficker posing as an ardent boyfriend. The large bulk of these girls come into the unloved category. This means that they are not necessarily poor, but emotionally neglected in some way.
When they are round about 18 years of age they are shipped across to the UK and put in pop up brothels. [see previous blog] There they are mechanically spied upon even when they are sleeping to make sure they do not escape. Online advertising of their availably also makes them less traceable and the victims are too cowed to try and get help. Brothels are very temporary so again they are hard to trace. This is happening on an industrial scale with an estimated 4500 organised crime groups trafficking women in the UK.
A lady who runs a safe house in Romania for sex slaves under 18 said in the programme that for the traffickers, the income is high and the risks are very low. Frighteningly trafficking is taking place on an industrial scale in the UK in 2022.
