Why would you spend a large part of your time, writing blogs like this one? Or why would you spend years writing a novel about modern slavery when there are so many more interesting things to do with your time?
Sometimes I ask myself that question. However I don’t have to wait long for an answer. This is best put into the words of Mahala, the Pakistani girl who was shot in the head in 2012 by the Taliban because she stood up for the rights of women to be educated. She said,
‘when the whole world is silent, even one voice becomes powerful.’
Every evil in our world today, of which modern slavery if one of the worst, can be changed if we all join together in shouting about it. Mahala also said in one of her public addresses,
‘…one book, one pen can change the world.’
That is why I have written the novel ‘The Garden of Sparkling Delight.’ I seek to be that voice of protest. The novel tells the physical and emotional abuse a young girl has to suffer when she is tricked into sexual slavery. By describing what happened to the heroine and her friends I have tried to raise awareness of this hidden evil. The book is also an exciting escape story. You too can become another voice of protest to our silent world and between us we shall make a difference.
Please read or listen to the novel and pass it on to your friends. It can be listened to and downloaded free of change as an audio book from this site.
