As I write this on the 28th June 2022, Ghislaine Maxwell is being sentenced in the USA. She was found guilty of sex trafficking some time ago but the world is waiting to see how long she will be incarcerated for. This could vary from five years to about fifty. In view of the fact that she is 60 years old now it would be a little stupid to send her to prison for fifty years. She would never make it to the end of her sentence! The received wisdom is that she will probably get 20 years.
This is an auspicious day for all those women who as young girls were raped by Jeffrey Epstein. Two of them, who are now women of mature years, were talking on the radio this morning and being asked their opinions as to whether 20 years would be a long enough imprisonment. One woman replied that whereas Ghislaine would be in prison for 20 years she had been there for 25 already. By this she meant that the effect of being a sex slave for Epstein had ruined her life.
Many people don’t understand the profound effects that rape has. They think, wrongly, that as soon as the girl escapes then everything returns to normal. Nothing could be further from the truth. The dreadful effects, both mental and often physical continue through life.
Often too their actual life is considerably shortened by the treatment they receive. This will enable you to see in a vivid way the virtual prison sentence sex slaves are given the minute they are taken from their homes.
