Ukraine and Slavery

Ukraine’ and ‘slavery,’ aren’t two words that we put together these days.  The Western world has been astonished at the energetic reaction of the Ukrainians who have shown very clearly that they do not want to be enslaved to any other state, not even Russia with whom they had such close ties.  Unfortunately the title is true however, for it is a fact worrying many aid agencies, that during all the chaos surrounding the flight of the refugees, modern day slavers will move in and kidnap as many young unaccompanied young adults as they can.  The orphan population of Ukraine is particularly at risk and under the guise of offering homes to refugees, these unscrupulous people will entrap as many as possible and then sell them on for money.  The chaos of war makes this very easy for them.
What awaits these poor unfortunates, is then a life that is even more unendurable than being shot at by Putin’s army. To give you some idea of what they are going to experience, why not read the novel, The Garden of Sparkling Delight, by Deborah Varen.  This seeks to give an in depth picture of the life of one sex slave in Brazil.  Within its pages you will be able to go on an emotional journey with the heroine which is the nearest you can get in this life without actually becoming a sex slave yourself.  This is a ‘not- for -profit- book,’ which seeks to raise awareness of the awfulness of modern day slavery.
