What Has Changed?

If you have an interest in ancient Near Eastern history you will know that during one of the many times the city of Jerusalem was besieged before its destruction the inhabitants were in such a dreadful state that they took to eating their own children.

We cringe when we even contemplate such a thing happening.

However on the news today came the dreadful fact that the war torn state of Afghanistan under the Taliban is so reduced that families have taken to selling their girls to raise enough money to feed the family.  One case was given off a family of 30 who are surviving on 8 peaces of bread per day between them and so sold one of their daughters into slavery.

The chances are very high that this would mean sexual slavery.  So nothing much has changed and all our vaunted claims that the world is becoming more civilised are proved to be incorrect.

What is going to become of such a child?  If you would like to get some idea of her fate please read the novel, ‘The Garden of Sparkling Delight.’ by Deborah Varen, available from Amazon in paperback and the Kindle e-reader. It is also free as an audio download from this site and You Tube.

This recounts the story of one such sexual slave and the price she pays in terms of pain, suffering and trauma.  It also tells the story of those who helped her in her plight and of her loving family.  Please read this and add your voices to a worldwide protest at this appalling modern trade in human beings. No profit is being made from this book as all proceeds go to supporting named charities who work to rescue girls from slavery.

To listen for FREE to the whole story and find out what happens to the main character 'Tis' her family snd friends you can use this link to The Podcast or go to the links at the top of this WEB page and select 'Tis The Podcast'. There you will find access to the 21 half hours episodes on-line or download for later listening and sharing.
