If the name Tulsa doesn’t mean much to you don’t feel bad about it. I too knew nothing about its history. In fact very little has been made over what happened there even though it was horrendous. One might even say that ‘history is silent,’ about it.
So what did happen there? During the night of May 31st to June 1st 1921 a prosperous black suburb of Tulsa called Greenwood was raised to the ground by a white mob seeking to avenge an unproven crime committed by a black man. During the riot 800 people were injured, homes, businesses, churches, schools and municipal building over a 40 square block area were destroyed.
Commenting on this Joe Biden said on a recent visit:-
‘Just because history is silent it doesn’t mean that it hasn’t taken place.’
The same comment can well be applied to the plight of the millions of sexual slaves worldwide. Nothing much is ever said in the media or in schools about this outrage. However just because the world is largely silent on this subject it does not mean it is not happening. Please help me to raise a cry against this horror that could grow to a mighty shout.
